Canadian Citizenship

Canadian citizenship is the final milestone in the immigration journey, granting you the full rights and privileges of being Canadian - including the right to vote, hold a Canadian passport, and pass citizenship to your children. To be eligible, permanent residents must have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days (3 years) out of the last 5 years before applying.

In addition to the physical presence requirement, adult applicants between 18 and 54 years of age must demonstrate adequate knowledge of English or French (CLB 4 or higher), pass a citizenship knowledge test covering Canadian history, values, institutions, and symbols, and file income taxes for at least three years within the five-year period. Permanent residents who obtained their status through Express Entry, the PNP, or family sponsorship are all eligible to apply once they meet the requirements.
